Gigminter
Manifesto

Freelancing
is strategy.
Not skill.

Skill is what you can do.
Strategy is whether anyone is hiring you to do it.

Most freelancers we’ve watched stuck at the rate floor are technically strong. They can ship. What’s broken is the strategy on top of the skill, the title that doesn’t match the work, the niche that’s never been picked, the proposal that reads like every other proposal.

Gigminter exists because most freelance “advice” treats this as a marketing problem. It’s not. It’s a positioning problem, and the cure is honest diagnosis, not louder marketing of the same blurry profile.

Thesis

Honest diagnosis
beats
affirmation.

A diagnosis that tells you what you want to hear feels good for a day. One that tells you what you need to hear moves your career for a year. We chose the second on purpose.

01

Strategy over skill.

Skill gets you the work. Strategy gets you the right work. We’ve watched extraordinary freelancers stay broke because their profiles broadcast something other than what their work actually is. The repositioning is rarely about adding capability, it’s about subtracting the ten things that aren’t your real edge so the one that is comes through.

02

Specific over generic.

“Update your headline” is not advice. “Drop the word writerfrom a profile that’s actually selling strategy” is. Every recommendation we make names the exact thing, the line in your bio, the order of your portfolio items, the phrase in your proposal opener. Generic advice is just lazy advice with a marketing budget.

03

Evidence over vibes.

If we can’t ground a recommendation in something specific in your profile, a line, a number, a contradiction, we don’t make it. Confidence without evidence is just a horoscope, and you’ve already had enough of those.

04

Recalibration over cheerleading.

If your stated target and the data disagree, we say so, and we rebuild the plan around what’s actually achievable. Most freelance tools tell you what you want to hear about your $200/hr ambition. We’ll tell you the path from $48 to $90 to $120, and which months you’ll spend on each leg.

05

Nigeria-first, not bolted on.

We were built in Nigeria. The pricing is Naira. The cultural register is real. We don’t translate American freelance advice into Naija and call it localized. We start with the freelance world we live in, and let it scale outward to the 14 (and counting) countries our users are in. The world is bigger than San Francisco, and freelancing tools should know that.

06

The freelancer owns the work.

The diagnosis, the strategy, the playbook, yours. Modify it, ignore it, paste it into Upwork, archive it. We don’t lock outputs behind subscriptions. We don’t drip-feed insights to extend retention. You bought a Mint, you got the full thing, you keep the full thing.

Closing

If you’d rather know,
we’d rather tell you.

Not every freelancer wants an honest diagnosis. The ones who do are the ones we built this for. If that’s you, your first Mint is on us. No subscription. No upsell. Just a candid read on your profile and a plan you can act on tomorrow.

Mint my first diagnosis. Free.
